Everyone knows the stories: people who have been on holiday to Sweden for years, but have never seen a moose in the wild. Of course, that's not the Scandinavian holiday you expected… Of course you can be lucky and come across something while driving on the main road on your way to a place of interest, but those real spots in the forest are not so one, two, three for the average tourist…

“During the tour we saw at least nine moose. But meeting that white moose with her cub was the icing on the cake.”

In our opinion, a wildlife / moose safari should be exactly what the term promises: a real safari. So don't bump into a van with seven cars while you are gently disturbed by the loud house music that comes thumping from the car of your predecessor. But just be taken with only your own group / family / partner in our all-terrain vehicle to the hard-to-reach places in the forest with the most beautiful views.

A real safari is not just simply driving around and looking outside. Join us in search of the moose, deer, roe deer, foxes, cranes, wolves, badgers, linxes, wolverines, beavers, wild boars and other game that inhabit the forests of our region. With a bit of luck, you'll come across the rarest apparition of Scandinavia's apparitions: the white moose! This all-white (but not albino!) moose is only found in a few places throughout Scandinavia, and we know exactly the places…

“After a beautiful evening where we had seen a lot, we drove back to Sysslebäck. And less than 100 meters before the end there are suddenly two mega-sized moose with huge antlers in the middle of the parking lot near a building. Who would have expected that, in the middle of the houses?”

Along the way you will hear about the living habits of the forest inhabitants and you will learn more about all the peculiarities of those majestic moose... Here and there we get out to find traces on a short walk and to see what has been eaten. There are more than enough opportunities to take pictures of the surroundings, the spectacular Värmland sunsets and of course the obligatory shots on and around the all-terrain vehicle…

The tours are mainly held in the evening. On special request, a safari can also take place in the morning. Keep in mind that this is very early, because it gets light very early here in the summer. Times are dependent on light and weather conditions and will be agreed upon at the time of booking. The safari will start and end at our location in Höljes.

“There is a mother with two calves in the meadow. Slowly we stop and take a lot of pictures from the car. Since the mother did not feel threatened, we were able to get out of the car very carefully. The mother looked at us suspiciously for a moment, but when she noticed that we were staying calm by the car, she just continued grazing. What an experience…”

along the way a snack and drink is offered in the form of coffee, tea or soft drink with something tasty. Perhaps superfluous, but of course there is no eating or drinking in the car itself…
during the safari (where possible) photo and video recordings are made, which are made available completely free of charge afterwards. So you no longer have to worry about whether you have the right camera with you and no more fiddling about the right settings. So just enjoy the ride!

A trip takes between 5 and 6 hours. We start at Vikinggård Cottages. We have space in the car for a maximum of 6 persons. There is only one booking per trip, so you are always alone with your own group. The costs for this spectacle are SEK 3.200 (approx. 285 Euro) regardless of the group size. Given the nature of this activity, we recommend a minimum age of 10 years.Of course there is no guarantee that we will see moose, but so far not a single guest has been disappointed with us…
